Acid reacts emotionally to statement: “Money always wins in Belgium”

Youtuber Acid, real name Nathan Vandergunst, reacts emotionally to the judge’s ruling. “This sucks, this will be on my criminal record, but I have no regrets.”

Acid was sentenced on Thursday to a suspended prison sentence of three months and a fine of 800 euros for harassment. In addition, he must also pay provisional compensation of 20,000 euros to the parents of an ex-Reuzegommer for the lost income in their restaurant. “This concerns 20,000 euros. Money that I would have preferred to see in Sanda Dia’s family account. But money always wins in Belgium,” Acid responds.

According to the court, he is guilty of harassment “by making public a video message in which online shaming and doxing took place”. Acid could not receive community service because he did not agree to it.

The YouTuber had to answer for harassment, violation of privacy, electronic nuisance and slander. Shortly after the conviction of eighteen members of student club Reuzegom for their role in the death of Sanda Dia decided to open up about the student club. In a video he discussed several former members: who they are, where they work and why he thought they should be exposed.

But Acid remains proud of what he has done: “I spoke for society, for Sanda Dia, for his family. They’re not going to get me down.”
