This saturday, May 8, the pianist Joaquin Achúcarro return to the stage of Zarzuela Theater to celebrate the 75 years since his debut on this stage, where he appeared when he was 13 years old.
The pianist will perform a program that oscillates between the French impressionism of Debussy, with their Preludes Y Pattern, Y Ravel, who will interpret the Dawn of the funny, and the Spanish repertoire for piano by Mompou, Turin Y Albéniz, with the works Variations on a Chopin Theme of the first, the Sentimental Andalusian of the second and Navarra of the third.
Of impeccable and exemplary artistic career, Joaquin Achúcarro has maintained a uninterrupted international concert activity that has taken him to 61 countries, performing in theaters like Avery Fisher Hall, Berlin Philharmonie, Carnegie Hall, Concertgebouw, Kennedy Center, Musikverein, Royal Albert Hall, Festival Hall, Barbican, Salle Gaveau, Salle Pleyel, Teatro alla Scala, Suntory Hall and the Sydney Opera House; both in recitals as soloist with more than two hundred different orchestras that include the Berlin Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic,La Scaladi Milano, Sydney Symphony, Sta Cecilia di Roma, London Philharmonic, London Symphony, Philharmonia, BBC, Orchestre de Montreal, National de France, Yomiuri, Tokyo Philharmonic, Tokyo Symphony, RIAS Berlin, Tonkünstler Wien, Nacional de Chile, de Mexico, de Colombia, de Venezuela and of course, all the orchestras in Spain together with more than 400 directors such as Claudio Abbado, Sir Adrian Boult, Riccardo Chailly, Sir Colin Davis, Zubin Mehta, Sir Yehudi Menuhin, Seiji Ozawa Y Sir Simon Rattle.
In 2000 he was appointed Artist for Peace by UNESCO, in Paris, in recognition of his “extraordinary artistic work.” It is Gold Medal for Fine Arts, National Music Award and in 2003 he received the Grand Cross of Civil Merit.
