Fifty appearances in the first team a 20 years completed just over a month ago. A goal that probably wouldn’t be newsworthy in England, but which in Italy, where young players always have more difficulty making their way and finding space to play consistently, deserves some reflection. Hero Fabio Mirettiwho blew out 20 candles on his birthday cake on August 3rd and on Saturday, against Lazio, reached 50 among the greats.
An objective in the black and white shirt that developed over three seasons, from 2021-22, the year of his debut in Serie A (March 20 in Juventus-Salernitana, then another stint against Sassuolo and his first as a starter, at home, in Juventus-Venice), launched by Massimiliano Allegri, until making three appearances this new season (he was only on the bench against Bologna).
Miretti “better” than Marchisio and Del Piero
For a young player from the Juventus squad, who embraced Juventus at the age of eight, it represents an unparalleled success, especially since we cannot remember, in recent times, other youngsters with the same path in the first team. Some examples? Claudio Marchisiowho joined the Juventus youth team at the age of 7, only made his first team debut at the age of 20 and a half, in the summer of 2006, included in the squad of Juventus who were relegated to Serie B. Not even an icon like Alessandro Del Piero boasts a path as precocious as that of Miretti: in Turin the former captain arrived from Padova at the age of 19, joined halfway between the Primavera and the seniors. At the end of that season he made 14 total appearances for the first team, which becomes 35 considering also the first part of the following season, 1994-95, when he turned 20 in November.
