Achievements and Future Plans of Slovak Ice Hockey Player, Adam Cedzo

At the successful Under-18 World Championships, he created an elite attack with Dalibor Dvorský and Juraj Pekarčík. While the two met after the NHL draft in the St. Louis, Adam Cedz was not selected by the Blues, nor was anyone else. However, the 18-year-old striker does not make a big deal out of it. He is focusing on the next year in the Třinac organization, where he should work mainly among men.

He also won the youth championship. After Dvorský and Pekarčík, he was the third most productive Slovak with eight points, complementing them well in the first attack. Already in the opening match, he presented himself with two goals against the Czech Republic (3:2 sn), he also had two points in the demanding quarter-final against Finland. The young Slovaks made it all the way to the semi-finals in Switzerland, but in the end they left without a medal. In the match for 3rd place, they lost to Canada 3:4 pp.

I believe that senior hockey will give me more

“It was an incredible experience. We made a great team, the kind of team we were together… it was really unreal. That’s why we made it this far anyway. It’s a shame that we didn’t win a medal, but it’s over.” assessed Adam Cedzo in an interview for our daily.

Highlighting the game is one of the common hockey clichés, but the selection, mostly of the year 2005, showed great cohesion and mental strength. Either with victories against unpopular opponents from the Czech Republic and Finland, turning a key match with Germany from 2:4 to 6:4, or even matches with Canada and Sweden. “Of course, it’s always about that. This is most evident when you play against strong teams. It’s a very important piece of the puzzle of success.” Cedzo recognized the quality of the party.

AFTER THE WC HE WAS COMPLETELY RELAXED

The native of Pezinok was on the wing of Dalibor Dvorský in the elite attack from the beginning of the tournament. Juraj Pekarčík joined them in the quarter-finals and it was this trio that contributed the most to Slovakia’s success, with the exception of goalkeeper Samuel Urban. Cedzo praises the cooperation in the first formation. “It was great. I think we did well in all of our roles that we had in that offense. It worked for us,” he expressed himself.

While Dvorský (10th place) and Pekarčík (76th) were selected by the same team in the June NHL draft, after Cedz St. Louis Blues did not reach. No other team drafted him either. “It was a shame, but it was no longer in my hands. I watched it calmly. I took it more with a distance, after the championship I completely relaxed that it was no longer in my hands. It was up to the individual teams,” commented the striker, who spent the last three seasons in the Czech Republic.

HE SHOULD START IN THE FIRST LEAGUE

The 18-year-old winger worked in the youth teams of Třinac, he also tried out the First League for Frýdek-Místek. He played five duels with an average ice time of 15:50 min. “I was very happy with the space I got among the men, I didn’t expect that much,” acknowledged Cedzo, who should add even more duels in the second highest competition next year. “I will continue in the Třinec organization. It all depends on me. I should start in the first league, but it will all be up to me how I deal with it.”

A debut in the A-team of Třinac is also not ruled out. “In theory, yes. It is perhaps too high a goal, but the theoretical vision is there,” smiled the native of Pezin, who praises his work in the most successful Czech organization in recent seasons. “It’s great for me. The organization is excellent, as are the conditions for training. I am very satisfied.”

Adam Cedzo also thought about the overseas junior, where many of his peers are heading. In the end, however, he decided to stay in the Czech Republic. “I was also attracted to the junior girl, we definitely thought about it. But we weighed the pros and cons and decided to stay where I was last season. I believe that senior hockey will give me a little more than junior hockey. Of course, it will always be seen after some time whether it was a good move. Now we don’t know yet. I believe it was the right decision,” concluded Adam Cedzo.
