Achieve Success in His New NHL Team with a Smash Hit Performance

NEW YORK. Pierre Engvalls continues to deliver for the new club New York Islanders.

He scored for the third game in as the Long Island team beat the Ducks 6-3 in Anaheim last night.

– Our entire chain had a really good match, says the 26-year-old from Småland.

After four seasons in the Toronto Maple Leafs, Pierre Engvall was traded to the New York Islanders at the beginning of March and it seems that old general manager Lou Lamoriello knew exactly what he was doing when he traded the lanky 26-year-old from Ljungby.

He has slotted in perfectly in a chain with Brock Nelson and Kyle Palmieri and actually injected goals at the end.

He scored one against Washington on Saturday, followed it up with another against LA yesterday and against Anaheim at the Honda Center last night it rang again.

At the start of the second, he came clean in front of John Gibson and whipped the puck in.

– I got a very good pass from Kyle Palmieri, says Pierre modestly when he meets the media afterwards.

– Overall, the chain I form with him and Brock Nelson had a good evening. We are starting to find each other now.

Well, you can say that. Overall result for the men.

Engvall – a goal and an assist.

Palmieri – one goal and three assists.

Nelson – two goals.

In the end, the Islanders thus won 6-3 and thus keep away from the teams chasing just below the playoff line.

Swedish defender Sebastian Aho also had an assist.

A day after a stinging loss against the New York Rangers in Manhattan, it looked for a long time that the Washington Capitals would also bite the grass against Buffalo at home in Capital One Arena last night.

They were down 2-0, 3-1 and 4-2, but in the end they caught up.

Tom Wilson equalized at 4-4 with just over a minute left in regular time, on an assist from Nicklas Bäckström – and in the end the home team won on penalties.

– That. was probably the nicest victory of the whole year, says Caps keeper Charlie Lindgren.

Swedish successful defender Rasmus Sandin was hit at the end of the second period by a shot on one knee and had to be helped off the ice, grimacing badly – but even better he came out to third and was able to finish the game.

In Toronto, it was even and tight between the Maple Leafs and the Colorado Avalanche and at full time it was 1-1. Then it was a penalty decider there as well – and Nathan MacKinnon fixed the victory for the reigning champions.

Calle Järnkrok had the assist on the Leafs’ only goal of the game.
