Timlo.net-Attack ransomware has become common these days. It looks like Acer was one of the victims of that attack recently. It is possible that this attack is one of the biggest attacks to date as the attackers demanded a $ 50 million ransom for the files they were holding.
According to the news, Acer was hit by an attack ransomware REvil. The hackers stole several files in the process, wrote Ubergizmo, Tuesday (23/3). They have published several stolen documents on their website as evidence that they managed to break into Acer’s system. They are asking $ 50 million if Acer wants their files back.
Acer has not acknowledged that they were the target of the attack. In a statement released on BleepingComputer, the company wrote, “Acer regularly monitors our IT systems and recent cyber attacks have been well repelled. Companies like us continue to be under attack and we have reported recent abnormal situations that we detected to relevant law enforcement and data protection agencies in several countries. “
If this attack sounds familiar, it’s because not too long ago, the developer of The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red, also suffered a similar attack. However, the company refused to pay the ransom and as a result the source code of some of their games was released to the public.
