(BANDA ACEH, 16/02) — Until Thursday (16/02/2023) the Aceh Health Service noted that more than 880,771 children had received the second dose of polio drops in Aceh. This figure increased by 88,809 children compared to the previous day.
This figure has reached 72.3 percent of the total target of 1.2 million children aged 0-12 years who are scheduled to get the second dose of polio immunization during the implementation of the Polio National Immunization Sub Week (PIN) in Aceh.
The data is the achievement of several regions in Aceh such as Bener Meriah District, Central Aceh, East Aceh, Aceh Singkil West Aceh which has reached above 95 percent. Then Aceh Tamiang, Gayo Lues, Pidie, Southeast Aceh, Southwest Aceh and Nagan Raya and South Aceh whose achievements are above 85 percent, as well as several other regions with various achievements.
The target in the second round is also the same as the first round, namely 1.2 million children.
Currently, the 23 regencies/cities in Aceh have started administering the second dose of polio Sub-PIN as a response to the Extraordinary Outbreak) of polio cases in Aceh, following the discovery of one case in Pidie District last year.
There are 10 regencies/cities that have just started implementing the second round of Polio Sub PIN on Monday (13/2/2023), because these areas had not reached the target of the first dose of polio immunization until last January.
These areas include the City of Sabang, Banda Aceh, Aceh Besar, Bireuen, Lhokseumawe, North Aceh, Langsa, Aceh Jaya, Subulussalam and Simeulue.
While other districts/cities have already started administering the second dose, namely on Monday (30/1/2023).
For your information, Aceh has started the second round of Polio Sub PIN since January 30, 2023. The second round of polio drops is given after fulfilling a minimum interval of 28 days since the administration of the first dose.
Giving polio sweet drops must be done at least twice so that immunity can form from attacks by the dangerous polio virus.
