In his most recent meeting with United States attorneys general in Weslaco, Texas, Governor Greg Abbott emphasized the importance of collaboration with other entities to reinforce the security of the border with Mexico.

Abbott indicated that it is necessary to maintain quiet communities, noting that border security is a national issue that affects all Americans and not just Texans, which is why he proposed to the attorneys general take action against those means that facilitate human trafficking.

“Texas is responding in full force to the Biden administration’s failure to address the disaster at our border, and our efforts are bolstered by collaboration with other state leaders across the country,” the governor said.

The governor’s meeting with the attorneys general was held within the framework of the tour made by the Secretary of National Defense, Alejandro N. Mayorkas, throughout the border between the United States and Mexico, where points such as Yuma, Arizona; El Paso and Brownsville, Texas.

The meeting was attended by Alaska Attorneys General Treg Taylor; from Arkansas, Leslie Rutledge; from Indiana, Todd Rokita; from Kansas, Derek Schmidt; from Mississippi, Lynn Fitch; from Montana, Austin Knudsen; from Oklahoma, John O’Connor; from South Dakota, Jason Ravnsborg; from Texas, Ken Paxton; from Utah, Sean Reyes; and from West Virginia, Patrick Morrisey.

Likewise, during the meeting, some of the actions undertaken by Abbott were highlighted, such as the signing of laws that provide 3 billion dollars in funds for Texas border security efforts; the application of Operation Lone Star, and the deployment of soldiers from the National Guard and police officers from the Department of Public Safety.

Legal measures to enforce the Remain in Mexico policies and Title 42 in Texas, to the construction of the Texas border wall to combat illegal migration, among others, were also highlighted.
