Accused of talking while working, customers attacked gas station workers in central Jakarta

Two gas station workers in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, were injured after being victims hitting motorcycle refueling. The beating happened because of a misunderstanding.

Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Head of Public Relations Ade Ary Syam Indradi said the incident happened in the early hours of Saturday (10/8/2024). The victim with the initials LZ was on duty with his friend, AR.

At that time the person who committed the crime came to fill it with petrol. The victim asked his friend to close the gas station for a minute as it was a break time. At that time, the perpetrator reprimanded the victim.

“At that time it was the victim’s resting time, then the victim told his friend (witness) the victim said ‘please hang up first I want to rest to take’, then the offender said ‘if you want to chat at home’ and the victim said, ‘be patient, sir’, then the victim “filled a bike tank -motor of the person who committed the crime with petrol,” said Ade Ary to journalists, Sunday (11/8/2024).

The perpetrator suddenly threw the motorbike keys at the victim’s face. Without further ado, the perpetrator punched the victim in the face.

“At the same time, the victim ran away. At that point the witness separated him, but the perpetrator continued to chase the victim while hitting the victim in the face, while the witness continued to intervene,” he said.

The perpetrator left the gas station after beating the victim. Soon after, the perpetrator came with his friends and continued to beat the victim and his colleagues.

“At that point, the victim immediately ran and hid in the restroom. Soon after, the police came and the victim got out. When he was outside, the victim found out that the witness was also beaten, and in this incident the victim suffered bruises on his face,” he concluded.
