At the home of the accused
The 18-year-old’s friends have told Aftonbladet and Expressen that they were sent Snapchat photos from her the night before she disappeared. It then appeared that she was at the home of the 26-year-old accused of murder.
Denise Cronqvist (17), one of the friends, tells Expressen that Klinteberg got to know the man through mutual acquaintances. She had the impression that the two had been friends a few months before.
Cronqvist and Klinteberg had plans to meet at 1 pm the next day – but Klinteberg never showed up.
– I was waiting for a rock in the area where she lives. I thought she was asleep, she says to Expressen.
She called and sent messages to the 18-year-old – but without success. Shortly afterwards, Klinteberg was reported missing.
May remain on murder indefinitely
Denies criminal guilt
On Friday, Lund District Court decided that the 26-year-old should be arrested, after strengthened suspicion of murder. Police attorney Kristoffer Nordström states that the murder must have taken place at the man’s residential address, according to Expressen.
The man’s defender, lawyer Maria Grosskopf, tells Aftonbladet that he denies criminal guilt for murder because he did not intend to take the woman’s life.
– The arrested man has in police questioning admitted that he has taken the woman’s life. He believes that his intention was not to kill her and therefore denies the action, says chamber lawyer Kristoffer Nordström in a press release.
– I believe, however, that there is a probable basis for murder and therefore I have asked that he be arrested, he says.
Initially, the man is now in custody until 16 April.
