Accused of killing his cohabitant

A 39-year-old man has been arrested and charged with the murder of a 40-year-old woman in Noresund. The woman and the man were cohabiting, reports NTB.

The man was arrested without drama at Modum police station around 0.15 where he had volunteered.

– The arrest took place without drama. The woman has been found in their home, says police inspector Odd Skei Kostveit in the Southeast police district to NTB.

The woman was alive when an ambulance arrived at the scene, but the injuries were so extensive that she died, the police say in a press release.

Known from before

The man has given a brief explanation to the police. The police are familiar with the man from before, the police inspector informs Dagbladet. He will have a defender appointed during the day.

– We have started with technical investigations on site. We will conduct an initial interrogation of the accused, says Kostveit to Dagbladet.

Police are not aware that there were other witnesses to the incident.

There were children in the home who have now been taken care of, the police inspector states.

Has set crisis teams

Mayor Knut Martin Glesne in Krødsherad on Tuesday morning met with the rest of the crisis management in the municipality. He tells Dagbladet that the village is in shock.

– We react with disbelief. For a small village for us, this is something we do not think is happening here, says the mayor.

At half past one on Tuesday night, the crisis staff was called in, and they have been informed by the police since eight o’clock on Tuesday.

A psychosocial crisis team has been set up in the municipality, which has been in contact with the family, and the children are taken care of by a family member.

– It is flagged on a half pole at the town hall, the mayor says.
