Accused of helping Russia, Iran makes a shocking statement

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia The Iranian side has finally opened up on Western allegations that Iran had supplied Russia with weapons during its invasion of Ukraine.

Quoting Aljazeera.com, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said claims by Western officials that Iranian drones and missiles were being supplied to Russia for its invasion of Ukraine are not true.

“Their comments on the missile part are completely wrong and the drone part is right. We supplied a limited number of drones to Russia a few months and before the war in Ukraine,” Amirabdollahian told reporters on Saturday (11/5/2022) .

Iranian officials have previously stated on numerous occasions that Tehran has “defense cooperation” with Russia but does not supply weapons to the Kremlin “for use in the war in Ukraine”.

Amirabdollahian reiterated on Saturday that Iran is not yet a supporter of any of the warring parties and is ready to talk to Ukraine.

“We stressed to Ukrainian officials that if there is evidence of Russia’s use of Iranian drones in the war in Ukraine, they must show it to us,” he said.

Ukraine warned Iran on Saturday of the “consequences” of supporting Moscow. “Tehran should realize that the consequences of complicity in the Russian Federation’s aggression crimes against Ukraine will far outweigh the benefits of Russian support,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko wrote on Facebook.
