Robert Blake was 89 years old.
The actor has died of a heart condition, his niece Noreen Austin told Deadline.com. He lived to be 89 years old.
Blake is perhaps best known for the detective series “Baretta”, which ran on ABC from 1975 to 1978.
He has also played in a number of films, including “Treasure of Sierra Madre” with the legend Humphrey Bogart and “In Cold Blood” from 1967.
One of the most memorable roles he did on film came in his very last, David Lynch’s thriller «Lost Highway» from 1997.
After that, however, he made headlines for far less pleasant things. He was charged with killing his second wife Bonnie Lee Bakley, who was killed in 2001.
She was found shot to death sitting in Blake’s car outside a restaurant. Blake told the court he was inside the restaurant to get a gun when Bakley was shot and killed.
He was found not guilty at trial in 2004, but lost a civil suit from Bakley’s family
