Consumers will have to put their hands deep in their pockets from September as a new wave of increases is expected on supermarket shelves.
Already the market has announced increases in coffee prices, while the rise of cocoa affects the prices of several products in the food industry, at the same time that cheese, milk, orange juice, tea and butter have double-digit growth rates compared to last year.
“We will have increases from September of the order of 15 to 20%. Especially catering businesses that serve coffee, their representatives say they cannot absorb these increases in raw materials. It will exceed 4 euros» says about the coffee the representative of the new INKA, Panagiotis Georgiadis, speaking to MEGA.

“According to data announced by ELSTAT, for July 2024 inflation increased 2.7% from 2.3% in June and food inflation increased 2.4% from 2.1%,” he says.
“And because of the fires and because of the drought and water shortages combined with the effect that increased tourism is having on inflation, we will have even worse figures for August. (…) We have increases. For July we had olive oiladded Mr. Georgiadis.
Other species recording increases are: fish, soft drinks, coffee. “Only if consumers coordinate their actions, only if they become consumer conscious will they be able to push” he added.
The complaints that reach the organization, according to Mr. Georgiadis, concern profiteering as well as “too many complaints this year about the price of the sunbed in relation to the minimum consumption imposed by many businesses”.
“It is possible for entrepreneurs to legally set a minimum consumption limit. From there on, in the event that there are phenomena of profiteering towards the offered items, consumers can contact the ministry”, he concludes.
