Tapteng DPRD member from PDIP Ari Mitara Halawa said the incident happened at Sibolang Durian on Jalan Iskandar Muda, Medan City, on Sunday evening (6/10/2024). Ari admitted that he was with Camelia at the time.
They went to the place to eat after attending the Special Regional Working Meeting (Rakerdasus) for the 2024 Regional Election Benefits at the same time held by PDIP North Sumatra at Medan Adimulia Hotel.
“If I’m not wrong, it was around 11pm, I didn’t look at the time. Last night we went to Rakerdasus. So, when we came back from there, we went to Sibolang Durian,” said Ari at Pirngadi Hospital, Medan, Monday (7/10).
Ari said Masinton Pasaribu and several other PDIP administrators were also present at the place. He admitted that he didn’t know Masinton existed at first.
Since it was late, Ari said goodbye to Masinton and several other administrators. When he was saying goodbye, said Ari, Masinton Pasaribu was called. Ari came closer.
Then, Masinton said that Ari did not support him in the nomination process as Regent of Tapteng. At that time, Ari said Masinton had also asked him not to carry the PDIP name anymore.
After a while, Masinton came to Camelia who was sitting. Then, Masinton asked Camelia to take off the PDIP clothes she was wearing because she felt that she was not supported by Camelia in the Tapteng Pilbup. At the same time, Ari said, Masinton grabbed the front of Camelia’s shirt and pulled her.
“He grabbed (Camelia’s) shirt and broke the buttons on his shirt. As far as I know, three buttons were broken, one broke, two came off,” he said.
Ari said that Camelia didn’t react in any way after what happened, she was just quiet and surprised. After that, Ari, Camelia and their friends decided to leave the place.
When they got into the car, Ari said, Camelia was crying suddenly while she was on the phone with her husband. Camelia’s husband also suggested that the incident be reported to the police.
Head of the Medan Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Commissioner Jama Kita Purba, said the report was submitted by Camelia in the early hours of Monday (7/10). Camelia reported allegations of sexual abuse and harassment.
“We received the report early Monday morning. So far the report claims abuse and allegations of sexual harassment,” said Jama, Wednesday (9/10).
