The Publicus Institute asked people’s opinions about inflation in a nationally representative public opinion poll conducted on behalf of Népszava between February 28 and March 6.
The survey revealed that four out of ten (39 percent) respondents said that inflation and rising prices are a serious problem for them. This also means that compared to October 2022, the proportion of those who said so has decreased by six percentage points.
According to nine out of ten respondents, the rising energy prices are more responsible for the increase in food prices. The figures revealed that compared to October 2022, the proportion of those who believe that the government’s economic policy is responsible has decreased by 14 percentage points (from 79 to 65 percent). In addition, the proportion of those who believe that the Brussels sanctions are more to blame for the current prices increased by six percentage points (from 57 to 63 percent).
The left-liberal press, which is critical of the government, tries to present all this as “the brainwashing is taking effect, Hungarians are blaming less and less the economic policy of the Orbán government, but rather Brussels, for the rise in prices”.
