Shakira has decided to leave Barcelona. The singer and her sons left the Spanish city where she lived with her ex Gerard Piqué. They are reportedly going to settle in the American city of Miami.
Shakira says goodbye to Barcelona extensively via Instagram. “I settled in Barcelona to give stability to my children, the same stability we are now looking for in another corner of the world with family, friends and the sea,” writes the 46-year-old artist. “Today we are starting a new chapter in the quest for their happiness.”
The singer and former top football player of FC Barcelona, who have two children together, announced last year after more than twelve years of splitting up. After the breakup, there were rumors that Pique had cheated and Shakira seemed to confirm this in her new music.
In her message, Shakira also thanks everyone who has comforted her: “the city where I learned that friendship undoubtedly lasts longer than love”. “Thanks to everyone who cheered me up, dried my tears, inspired me and made me grow.”
Various American media reports that Shakira will live in Miami with her sons. The singer herself does not write anything about her new place of residence in the message.
