According to preliminary data, GERB won Sofia, Burgas, Varna and Stara Zagora –

/ world today news/ In Sofia, Burgas, Varna and Stara Zagora, the old mayors from GERB were re-elected. DPS retains its mayor in Kardzhali. Preliminary data indicate this.

In Sofia, the previous mayor Yordanka Fandakova, a candidate of Prime Minister Boyko Borisov’s party, won a new mandate. She collects 60% of the votes. The candidate of the Reformers, Vili Lilkov, ranked second with 10%, which is 2% more than the votes for the BSP nomination Prof. Mihail Mirchev.

Ivan Portnih will manage in Varna. The mayor from GERB received 58%, leaving the candidate of the Reformers and Patriots, Chavdar Trifonov, second. He got 12%.

The most impressive are the victories of GERB in Burgas and Stara Zagora. Dimitar Nikolov /84%/ and Zhivko Todorov /75.1%/ remain mayors there. The second position in Burgas is for NFSB candidate Boyko Mirazchiiski with 6 percent of the votes.

GERB candidate and current mayor of Blagoevgrad Atanas Kambitov will keep his office for the next four years. 56 percent of Blagoevgrad residents voted for him. The second position is for the BSP candidate Milan Bogdanski. He won 11 percent of the vote.

The mayor of Kardzhali is once again Hasan Aziz from DPS. The mayor’s office in Kardzhali has not changed its occupant for 12 years. This time, Aziz’s result is more than 25 percent higher than that of the second runner-up in the race – GERB candidate Ilia Iliev.

In the city on the hills, there will be a runoff between the current mayor and GERB candidate Ivan Totev /37%/ and Slavcho Atanasov from the PF coalition /20%/.

There will be runoffs in Vidin, Haskovo, Shumen, Sliven.

In Shumen, there will be a run-off between Lubomir Hristov from GERB and Ivan Ivanov from BSP, the likely second candidate, but it is not excluded that it could be another. In the OS there is a clear victory for GERB with 34.9% support. There will also be a runoff in Vidin. Rositsa Kirilova from a local coalition beat the GERB candidate. There are no surprises in the OS – it will be dominated by GERB and BSP, but there will be others – this municipal council will be fragmented, believes Georgiev.

Voter turnout and violations

The study by Alpha Research shows that, on a national scale, the support for the parties will remain as it was in the parliamentary elections – GERB maintains its positions with 34.5%, BSP – 17.21%, DPS 14.6%, RB – 9%.

By 6:00 p.m. today, 221 reports of violations of the electoral process were received, the press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs informed. Assistance was provided to 20 polling stations. For the period from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., the units of the “Bulgarian Identity Documents” Directorate issued a total of 384 certificates to citizens for lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed identity documents.

Tsvetanov demanded an apology from the Reformers

“All people want Sofia to change. I thank them for supporting me,” said the re-elected mayor of Sofia, Yordanka Fandakova. Tsvetan Tsvetanov called on GERB’s coalition partners from the Reform Bloc to apologize for all attacks against the candidates of Boyko Borisov’s party. “Our main opponent from the BSP will suffer a complete collapse in municipalities such as Shumen, Pernik, Lovech, Vidin,” he also said. “For GERB, the main opponent is BSP and DPS. We have a second round coming up, when the results become clear we will give a press conference. GERB is the tolerant partner in this cabinet. It is driven solely by the protection of the interests of the citizens,” stated Tsvetanov. He believes that GERB can have between 115 and 120 municipal mayors after the second round.

Yotova saw disorganization in the election process

The BSP retains its place as the second political force, said BSP MEP Iliana Yotova. “Throughout the day we are watching how the elections are going in the country. There are hardly any more confused elections,” she said, specifying that thousands of people in the country cannot exercise their right to vote because of the hampered nature of these elections. “This is the first time I’ve seen such disorganization,” Yotova said. According to her, it is hardly a coincidence that the servers of all the organizations that were involved in making elections crashed today.
