“When children are overweight, there is a long-term impact,” explained the winner of the title of Master of Science in Nutrition and Health from Wageningen University, the Netherlands.
Ardy said, there is a study called early life programming. This is a concept of childhood conditions that affect adulthood. For example, childhood is overweight, childhood experiences inappropriate nutrition, or childhood has high stress, apparently it correlates with an unhealthy adult condition.
This risk can occur in children who are overweight. As adults, they tend to be unhealthy, more at risk of diabetes, hypertension and obesity.
“So, for parents, their children should be maintained their body weight in ideal conditions, not too fat, don’t be too thin, “said Ardy.
