Rating aggregator Metacritic is generally perceived as the most objective way to measure the quality of games, but its results can also be somewhat misleading.
The best proof is the annual ranking of the most successful publishers, compiled according to a formula that takes into account the average ratings of all published titles, as well as the ratio of extremely good or, conversely, extremely bad games.
In recent years, this ranking has been dominated by Sega (2020), 505 Games (2019), CAPCOM (2018) and Bethesda (2017), now victory Microsoft boasts. Although it lags behind its main competitor Sony, at least in terms of sales of new consoles, it was extremely busy last year. Exactly three games from its production have a rating higher than 90 percent, namely Forz Horizont 5, Psychonauts 2 and the console port of Microsoft Flight Simulator. The modeled sequels of the Halo and Age of Empires series also succeeded. Interesting is the fact that you can play all these games for literally a few crowns thanks to a subscription Game Pass.
However, this year will probably be more exciting, it is only the first half of March and Sony has already made two good cuts in the form of Horizon Forbidden West a Grand Touring 7.
