French entrepreneur Bernard Arnault has become the new richest person in the world, according to the Bloomberg Index of Billionairesa ranking by the international news agency Bloomberg. Arnault, who is best known for being the owner of the French luxury multinational LVMH, has surpassed Elon Musk, owner of Tesla and SpaceX and for about a month also of Twitter. Musk first topped the rankings in January 2021, when he overtook Amazon owner Jeff Bezos. According to Bloomberg his loss of the first position is mainly due to the recent purchase of Twitter, which cost around 44 billion dollars, but also to the bad stock market performance of his other companies, which would have caused him to lose around 100 billion dollars since January. According to Bloomberg, Musk’s assets currently amount to $168.5 billion, while Arnault’s is $172.9 billion.
