Ludwigshafen (dpa / lrs) – In an accident at work, a BASF employee in Ludwigshafen sustained severe scalds. As the company announced, the man was injured when he came into contact with a chemical substance. Due to the serious injuries, he had to be taken to a clinic early Saturday morning.
The substance was a product melt of triphenylphosphine. According to BASF, this is a preliminary product for the production of vitamin A. According to this, the substance can not only damage the nervous system and various organs, but also cause serious eye damage. Among other things, the product melt could also cause allergic skin reactions.
