Thursday March 11, 2021, 2 p.m., La Chaussée district in Montargis. In a few seconds, horror sets in: a 40-year-old man defends himself on the tenth floor of a building in rue de Greven, after throwing her 20 month old son Simon into the void.

If he did not present a psychiatric history, Haja R., professor of history and geography in Ain, had just lost custody of the little boy by court order and was “psychologically tested“, explained Loïc Abrial, the prosecutor of the Republic of Montargis.

Haja R. had left Ain on the morning of the tragedy to take the road to Montargis where he had grown up. In order to access the apartment, he had explained to the tenant wanting to take pictures of the neighborhood.

When the many help arrived, Haja R. was deceased. Simon, who suffered very serious injuries, died shortly after, despite attempts at resuscitation. The investigation, initially opened for murder, was dismissed due to the death of the perpetrator.

A death in a settling of scores in Montargis

The district of La Chaussée was, a few days apart, the scene of two dramas.

On the evening of March 17, several shots were exchanged on rue de Crowborough in the district of La Chaussée, in Montargis. Essaïd, 22, is fatally injured ; Seriously injured Jerry, 20, is hospitalized and fired.

The alleged shooter, Karim A., 28, had just been released from prison. He was indicted for “murder and attempted murder”, and remanded in custody.

On August 13, Paulina, an 11-year-old Orléanaise disappears at sea while swimming on a beach in Meschers-sur-Gironde (Charente-Maritime), with other children from the Institut Serenne d’Orléans, who have gone to summer camp.

Three cyclists killed on the roads of Loiret

Fleury-les-Aubrais, Saint-Denis-en-Val, Saint-Jean-de-Braye: between June and December 2021, three cyclists died in the agglomeration of Orléans after being struck by motorists.

For the dramas of Fleury-les-Aubrais and Saint-Denis-en-Val, the drivers fled before being found and arrested by the police. They were indicted for “manslaughter aggravated by a hit-and-run”, and a state of “obvious drunkenness” for the tragedy of Saint-Denis-en-Val.

The driver of the van involved in the Saint-Jean-de-Braye accident, who did not test positive for alcohol or drugs, was released after his custody.

Serial bomb threats

In the space of 72 hours, between October 19 and 21, three schools in Loiret (the Benjamin-Franklin high school in Orléans, then the Max-Jacob colleges in Saint-Jean-de-la-Ruelle and Etienne-Dolet , in Orléans), are targeted by bomb threats over the phone. The appellants claim their willingness to “blow things up”. Threats leading to the systematic establishment of heavy police measures to avoid any risk.

If the number from which the first call, the one made to high school, could not be traced by the police and the caller (s) confused, two minors, educated in the two colleges concerned, are suspected of having made the next two calls, in a desire to “replicate” the initial facts.

A homicide in Châteauneuf-sur-Loire

Marie-France Bruneau, 72, was found dead in her room on the morning of Thursday, November 11, by the nurse responsible for providing this retiree with her daily care. This inhabitant of Châteauneuf-sur-Loire, who had lived alone since the death of her husband two years ago, presented head injuries.

A violent and suspicious death which led to the opening of an investigation for homicide, entrusted to the soldiers of the research section of Orleans. More than two weeks after the incident, the soldiers still had not, according to our information, arrested any suspects. The investigation is continuing.
