Accidents – Frankfurt am Main – driver gets into oncoming traffic on the A5: four injured – panorama

Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) – A wrong-way driver collided with another car on Saturday evening on Autobahn 5 near Frankfurt-Griesheim, injuring three people and herself. The 46-year-old driver was trapped in the car and had to be freed. She was then taken to a hospital with serious injuries, a police spokesman said on Sunday.

The occupants of the other car suffered only minor injuries. So far it is unclear why the wrong-way driver came into oncoming traffic. A blood sample was taken from her. There is a suspicion that she was heavily intoxicated, the police said. Because of the clean-up work, one lane of the Autobahn in the direction of Darmstadt was closed for around four hours.
