How absurd would it be if you went on vacation and your perfectly fine house was demolished and only ruins remained?

Something like this recently took place in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, and is attracting attention.

The Associated Press reported on the 23rd (local time) that a demolition company in Georgia demolished the wrong house due to a mistaken address, leaving the homeowner in trouble.

According to the AP, Susan Hodgson, who lives in Atlanta, found her home in ruins after returning from vacation last month.

Mr Hodgson said: “At first I couldn’t believe it and thought it was a joke.”

Neighbors said a demolition company showed up and demolished the house while Mr Hodgson was on holiday.

When the neighbor asked what was going on, the company representative reportedly responded, “It’s not your business, so don’t worry about it.”

Mr. Hodgson checked and found that the address on the demolition permit was a different address.

The demolition company had mistaken the address and demolished the wrong house.

Mr Hodgson said, “I have lived in this house for 15 years and have maintained it well and have paid my taxes consistently.”

However, he added that although he reported it to the police and consulted with a lawyer, there was no solution.

The demolition company in question has yet to provide any explanation to Mr Hodgson.

Only after media coverage began did the company tell local media outlet WAGA TV that it was “looking into the matter.”
