Attorney General Irina Venediktova called on businessman Oleksandr Yaroslavsky, whose motorcade was involved in a fatal accident on the Chuguev-Martove highway, to return to Ukraine. The head of the department assured that investigation of the accident will be objective and impartial.
She also stressed that the criminal case will not be turned into political games. Venediktova said this at a briefing in Kharkiv, the newspaper reports. “Ukrinform”.
According to her, Yaroslavsky can count on a fair and honest investigation. She also personally guaranteed that the accident case will be completed quickly and within the law.
“The investigation is working. In order for no one to have any doubts, it seems to me that now it might just be right to turn to Mr. Alexander Vladlenovich. If we want everything to be honest, transparent, fair, and I promise, that we will not turn anything into political games, let’s not turn an ordinary criminal case into some kind of farce. Return to Ukraine, I promise you that everything will be in accordance with the law. Everything will be honest, professional and fast. We will carry out all investigative actions Here, my word will be a guarantee,” Venediktova said.
In addition, Venediktova added that the Office of the Prosecutor General will conduct a full investigation. in relation to employees of the National Police of the Kharkiv region and prosecutors of the Kharkiv regional prosecutor’s office.
Recall that on February 9, at about 23:00, in the area of 534 km of the Kiev-Kharkov-Dovzhansky highway, a car moving towards Kharkov hit a 36-year-old pedestrian. The man died as a result of the accident.
The driver did not stop and left the scene of the accident. In the morning, the driver of an enterprise owned by Yaroslavsky turned to the police, claiming that he was driving a car at the time of the accident. However, later it turned out that at that time he was in another place. Now the driver will be held as a “perjury”.
As reported by OBOZREVATEL, surveillance cameras recorded the motorcade of a businessman after an accident on the said section of the road. Two cars that lost their license plates near the scene of the tragedy were driving at high speed.
On February 11, it became known that law enforcement officers conducted searches at the place of residence of Alexander Yaroslavsky. Records were also seized from CCTV cameras in the hotel where the businessman was on the eve of the accident, who subsequently hurriedly flew to London.
