Accident with trucks on Noorderlaan in Antwerp: driver seriously injured (Antwerp)

The accident happened just after 7:30 a.m. “One truck came from the Merksem side, the other from the northern part of the harbour. A collision could not be avoided when one of the trucks turned left,” said spokesman Wouter Bruyns of the Antwerp police. Both trucks had the green light at the time.

One of the two truck drivers was trapped in his cab and had to be freed by the fire service. He was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. One of the trucks had to be towed.

The accident caused significant traffic disruption in the area. The traffic coming from Luithagen could no longer go towards Noorderlaan and was diverted. An exit of the A12 was also closed to traffic while the accident was being dealt with. Traffic police came to direct traffic. The Antwerp police warned to avoid the area as much as possible.
