A commuting Alpha derailed this Friday on the North Line, near the city of Coimbra, as it was traveling south-north. The accident occurred after a collision with another composition, a maintenance vehicle.
The alert was given at 3:35 pm and the firefighters from Soure are already on site, in order to remove people from the compound. The Observer has since learned from the District Command for Relief Operations in Coimbra that the accident has already caused two fatalities and at least 30 minor injuries. 280 passengers would follow the train.
The Northern line is currently cut.
Speaking to Rádio Observador, the president of the Soure Parish Council, Santos Mota, began by confirming that many people were following the train, taking into account that it is Friday, an especially strong day of circulation, anticipating the existence of several injured people. .
The President of the Junta de Soure also believed that there could be at least “one or two fatalities”, namely those who were maneuvering the maintenance vehicle. As for the Alfa driver, he will still be incarcerated.

António Saraiva, witness heard by Rádio Observador, who is at the scene of the accident, confirms the existence of at least three injured people, confirming that some people are already being removed from the train, while others are “going out on their own feet” .
According to the witness, the accident site is located about 1/2 kilometers from the center of the village of Soure, an area called Casa Velha.
There are 130 firefighters and 48 vehicles on site.
