“Accident on Trakia Highway Causes Traffic Difficulties on Last Day of Holiday Weekend”

An accident hampers traffic on the Trakia highway on the last day off.

The incident took place in the area of ​​the 62nd km., in the direction of Sofia, eyewitnesses reported on the social network.

From their words, it is not clear whether there were any injuries or how many cars collided. It goes without saying that traffic in the area is already seriously hampered.

“Tapa before the tunnel at 62 km towards Sofia, minor accident,” wrote a Facebook user.

“About 15-20 minutes it’s already corked,” clarifies another.

“The column is moving very slowly…” adds a third.

Meanwhile, the “Road Police” distributed up-to-date information about the traffic on the country’s roads at 4 p.m.

Traffic is intense on the country’s roads during the last weekend after the May 6 holiday. Traffic police teams control and assist traffic. In Sofia, traditionally the most congested are the entrance roads, namely Tsarigradsko Shose, Botevgradsko Shose, Tsar Boris III boulevards, as well as the Ring Road and the Northern Express Tangent.

On the republican road network, traffic is the busiest on the highways “Trakia”, “Hemus” and “Struma”. Due to the replacement of fences in the middle dividing strip, traffic along AM Trakia in the section from 120 to 135 km in both directions is carried out in stages in one lane, traffic in the overtaking lane is limited, and traffic is carried out in the active lane. The section is signaled with road signs.

On the same highway, the traffic in the section from 346 to 349 km. in the direction of Sofia, it is carried out with caution in the active and overtaking lane, due to partial repair works on the asphalt pavement in the emergency lane. The emergency lane is restricted and the speed is reduced to 70 km/h.

The traffic along AM Hemus in the direction of Sofia from km 35 to 33 is limited only in the overtaking lane for vehicles over 3.5 tons due to repair and restoration activities of viaducts at km 33 and 34, taking place along the two active lanes.

Due to the construction of a road link for a roadside site at km 422, traffic along the Hemus highway in the section from km 422 to 423 in the direction of Sofia is carried out with caution. Speed ​​is limited to 70 km/h. and the section is signaled with road signs.

At the border crossing – Kapitan Andreevo, Danube Bridge 1, Danube Bridge 2, Ruse and Kalotina there are no traffic jams and queues. There are about 300 free spaces in the buffer parking lot of the GCP – Kapitan Andreevo. No traffic load observed.

At the moment, on all entrance arteries to Sofia from AM Hemus, Trakia, Struma, intensive traffic is observed at the entrance to Sofia with a tendency to increase, without the formation of traffic jams and traffic jams. For now, the traffic on the Struma highway in the direction of Sofia in the section from Simitli to Blagoevgrad is intense, a 6 km long column of cars has formed, and the Ministry of the Interior has taken the necessary measures for trouble-free movement.

As of 4:00 p.m., no restrictions have been introduced in relation to road accidents.

From 0:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today, a total of 49 road accidents occurred on the territory of the country, of which 15 were serious.

The Ministry of the Interior appeals to drivers:

-reduce speed;

-put on the seat belts;

– do not undertake risky overtaking and maneuvers;

– observe the restrictions introduced by means of signs when a temporary organization of traffic is introduced, as well as the orders of the control authorities;

– undertake a trip only after you have verified the technical condition of the vehicle you are driving.
