On Wednesday morning, a 47-year-old truck driver drove into an access road to the Hans-Böckler-Strasse roundabout in Sonthofen. As he slowly rolled towards the roundabout and concentrated on the traffic on the left-hand side of Hans-Böckler-Strasse, a twelve-year-old child rode his bike on the sidewalk directly in front of his truck from the right.
The slight impact of the rolling truck knocked the boy over on his bike and caused him minor injuries. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
When investigating the accident, officers noticed the odor of alcohol on the truck driver. A test showed a value of over 0.5 per thousand. The officials arranged for a blood test and secured the driver’s license.
