At around 6 p.m., a 21-year-old Skoda driver was driving on the A3 in the direction of Würzburg. In the middle of the enclosures near Goldbach and Hösbach, she probably realized too late that the traffic was coming to a standstill. The Skoda crashed into the rear of a Ford of the Red Cross driving service. The Skoda then turned 180 degrees and collided with a Honda. This was pushed onto a BMW.
The Skoda driver and a passenger in the Ford suffered minor injuries in the collision. They were taken to a hospital for further treatment. Two occupants of the Honda received outpatient treatment at the scene.
The fire brigades from Goldbach, Hösbach and Waldaschaff were deployed to secure the accident site and clean the road.
The A3 was completely blocked for half an hour in the direction of Würzburg. Traffic was then diverted to two lanes. There was a mile-long backlog.
While the BMW was able to continue driving independently, the other three cars had to be towed away. The total damage amounts to well over €10,000.
