Fright on Lake Neuchâtel. A boat exploded this Friday noon between Yvonand and Yverdon-les-Bains, leaving two injured.
The facts took place around 12:35 p.m. when one of the passengers tried to start the engine. “When switching on the ignition, gasoline vapors caused the explosion of the engine and then a fire on the boat”, indicates the cantonal police of Vaud.
The three passengers jumped into the water
The three occupants, a man and two women in their forties living in the region, threw themselves into the water to reach the shore. The man, suffering from burns to his leg, was transferred by helicopter by the REGA to the CHUV in Lausanne, while one of the other two victims was slightly injured and taken to the Yverdon Hospital.
The boat, completely destroyed, was lifted out of the water by means of a lifting crane. It will be examined at the port of Yvonand by the lake brigade, in charge of the investigation.
The Vaud cantonal police reminds us that in these hot periods, it is important to ventilate the hold where the boat engine is located.
