The Accident Investigation Board has found no fault with the small plane that crashed in Larvik in 2021. Nor has it been possible to determine a cause for the crash.
Three people died when a small plane went out of control during training and crashed in Larvik in November 2021.
It was instructor Goran Neskovic (30), student Filip August Müller Frich (21) and student Eirik Paulsen (22) who died in the accident.
– The Accident Investigation Board has discussed several possible scenarios, but it has not been possible to give a clear explanation of what caused the aircraft to go out of control and spin, they write in their report.
The school plane took off from Sandefjord Airport Torp (ENTO). After approx. 23 minutes into the flight, and after completing several turns at approximately 3,600 ft above ground, the aircraft went out of control and went into a spin.
– The plane was completely destroyed in the collision and an intense fire broke out. Almost the entire wreck burned up or was damaged by the heat, and it was not possible to retrieve electronically stored information from the wreck.
The small plane belonged to the Pilot Flight Academy at Torp.
– This is heavy and sad. Now we just have to take care of the people, co-founder of the school, Frode Granlund, told VG in November.
Those on board had been students at the school for more than a year.
The small plane that crashed was going out on a completely normal training trip when it disappeared from the aircraft radar shortly after 09:00 on Tuesday morning.
The plane is of the Diamond DA-42NG model, and according to Flightradar took off from Sandefjord Airport Torp at 08.26.
The school has never previously had any accidents with personal injuries, according to Granlund.
Pilot Flight Academy is one of Europe’s largest flight schools. They train commercial aircraft pilots in three departments. Two of these are in Norway – at Notodden and Torp – while one is in Texas, USA.
