Accident insurance for 150 referees – El Diario

In tribute to the referee Víctor Hugo Hurtado, who died on May 19, 2019, due to a cardiac arrest in the middle of a match, accident insurance coverage began for 150 referees, as part of the agreement signed between the company UNIVIDA SA and the Bolivian Association of Soccer Referees (ABAF).
“From there we generated efforts and activities to achieve something that we had been fighting for decades, in the first instance safe for referees. For this year we have insurance against personal accidents and specialized medical attention, and this benefit satisfies us very much”, declared Víctor Hugo Chambi, president of ABAF.
Under the name “Víctor Hugo Hurtado Personal Accident Policy”, this inter-institutional agreement began this Thursday that will have the following coverage: 15,000 dollars for accidental death and 1,500 dollars in medical expenses.
Chambi thanked UNIVIDA SA for its attention to the affiliates (Álvaro Campos, Jesús Ramírez and Juvenal Villca, Santiago Silva and Evelyn Ahois) who were victims of physical aggression and robbery in the locker room at the end of the match between Oriente Petrolero and The Strongest in the Ramón Aguilera Costas stadium.
