Accident in Winterthur ZH: delivery truck hits child

On Friday evening, a boy was hit by a delivery truck and injured in an accident in Winterthur on Tösstalstrasse.

Shortly before 5 p.m., the Winterthur city police had to respond to Tösstalstrasse because of a traffic accident. On site, the police officers encountered an injured 8-year-old boy who had been hit by a car. He had to be taken to hospital by the emergency services with injuries of an unspecified degree.

According to previous findings, a 58-year-old driver drove his car out of a parking lot and hit the boy. The exact course of the accident is currently unclear. The police have started investigations on behalf of the public prosecutor and are looking for witnesses. Initial investigations at the hospital revealed that, fortunately, the boy’s injuries were not likely to be serious.

To record the accident, Tösstalstrasse had to be temporarily closed in both directions. In addition to the Winterthur city police and the rescue service, the Schutz & Intervention Winterthur fire department, the Winterthur-Unterland public prosecutor’s office, the Zurich Forensic Institute and the “Evidence Preservation and Documentation” service of the Zurich Cantonal Police were on duty.

Call for witnesses: Anyone who can provide information about the accident on Tösstalstrasse, at property 224a, is asked to contact the Winterthur city police on 052 267 51 52.
