Accident in Schwelm: Drunk woman from Gevelsberg takes the right of way

Schwelm. A woman from Gevelsberg (49) caused an accident in Schwelm with 1.6 per mille in her blood. She drives into an intersection and misses the right of way of a car.

In a traffic accident on Sunday around 1:35 a.m. in Schwelm, a 49-year-old woman from Gevelsberg was under the influence of alcohol. She was driving her Ford car on Carl-vom-Hagen-Strasse and intended to turn right onto Talstrasse. She ignored the right of way of a 53-year-old from Ennepetal.

He was driving his Audi car on the right-of-way valley road in the direction of Ennepetal. Both vehicles collided.

At the time of the accident, the traffic lights at the intersection were out of order. In this case, the give way sign (traffic sign 205) applies to traffic turning from Carl-vom-Hagen-Straße onto Talstraße.

During the accident investigation, the suspicion was confirmed that the woman from Gevelsberg might be under the influence of alcohol. A breath alcohol test showed a level of over 1.6 per mille. A blood sample was taken and the driver’s license was confiscated.
