Around 1 p.m. this Saturday, August 24, an accident occurred in front of the Tahiti Glace store in Papara.
According to initial reports posted on social media, one of the two cars involved attempted a dangerous overtaking maneuver and pulled over at the last moment to avoid a head-on collision. The car in question ended up on its roof, flipped over on the road, right in front of the Tahiti Glace store in Papara.
During the accident, an electric pole also fell onto the asphalt, blocking the road to Papeete.
According to our information, following this blockage, the ambulances dispatched to the scene were forced to transport the injured to Taravao hospital. In consultation with the SAMU, the Taravao medical team will have to decide whether the seriousness of their health requires transport to Taaone hospital. If so, an EVASAN (medical evacuation) by helicopter could be triggered so that they can be taken care of at the CHPF.
More information to come.
