Update from Friday, May 22nd, 2020, 10 a.m .: The police give further details of the serious accident on the B27 at Bad Sooden-Allendorf (Werra-Meissner district) known in the Kassel area. The 54-year-old motorcyclist was therefore on the B27 from Bad Sooden-Allendorf en route to Göttingen.
The 84-year-old driver was about to drive up from a parking lot onto the main road, although according to the police, he overlooked the motorcyclist who had the right of way. It hit the left side of the car head-on.
Serious accident in northern Hesse: Motorcyclists may suffer internal injuries
The motorcyclist suffered from the accident multiple breaks. According to the police, there is also suspicion of internal injuries. The 84-year-old and his 75-year-old passenger, both from Bad Hersfeld, were with the accident only slightly injured. Among other things, they suffered bruises and abrasions.
In order to determine the exact course of the accident, the public prosecutor called in an expert. The most accident involved vehicles were secured. According to the police, the damage to this is around 3000 euros. The B27 was completely closed for a long time.
Accident in northern Hesse: Motorcyclists are injured in life-threatening situations
Update from Friday, May 22nd, 2020, 9 a.m .: In the event of a serious traffic accident on the B27 between Bad Sooden-Allendorf (Werra-Meissner district) and the district of Ellershausen is a 55-year-old motorcyclist from late Thursday afternoon (21.05.2020) Hessian Lichtenau mortally injured.
According to the police, the man was traveling towards Witzenhausen with his heavy Harley Davidson machine. Halfway there, there was a collision with a Porsche Cayenne, which was controlled by an 85-year-old from Bad Hersfeld, at the level of a parking lot to the right of the B 27.
Serious accident in the Werra-Meißner district: rescue helicopters in action
According to information that was initially not confirmed, the driver of the sports car wanted to turn left from the parking lot towards Eschwege when the car was hit hard on the rear left side by the motorcycle.
The seriously injured was first given emergency medical care in the ambulance before a helicopter brought him to the clinic in critical condition. In addition to the emergency doctor, emergency services from the police and the DRK had rushed to the scene of the accident. Firefighters cleared the debris on the road. The property damage is estimated at several 10,000 euros. Longer traffic jams formed in both directions.

Accidents in Northern Hesse: Number of traffic fatalities is falling
Overall, the number of fatalities in northern Hesse is falling. In 2019, according to the North Hesse police, 30 people were killed and 801 seriously injured. Compared to the previous year 2018, this means a decline in the death toll of 9.1 percent.
In addition, no child has been killed in a traffic accident on the streets of northern Hesse for more than six years. The number of fatalities reached the lowest level since the start of statistical surveys.
In total, however, slightly more accidents occurred on Northern Hesse’s roads in 2019 than in 2018. There were 22,456 traffic accidents, 1,092 more than in the previous year. 3,912 people died in an accident. That is five fewer people than last year.
