His studies and a job put the young man from Waltrop under a lot of pressure. In the situation, he came up with the idea of pushing himself with amphetamine and using marijuana to “come down”. With both substances in his blood, he got behind the wheel of his girlfriend’s car on the afternoon of June 7, 2021, drove down Alstedder Strasse and did not register in time in the area where it crossed into Borker Strasse that the driver in the car stopped in front of him.
He drove up, causing a lot of damage and the police were informed. Officers at the scene became suspicious and their instincts proved right. The person who caused the collision was under the influence of drugs and his backpack also contained more than four grams of marijuana, around seven grams of amphetamine, a precision scale and a marijuana grinder. His driver’s license was confiscated immediately.
Nervousness and fear of the negotiation
Negligent endangerment of road traffic and possession of drugs were charged to the previously completely blameless 24-year-old in a trial before the district court. Unable to hide his nervousness and fear before the trial, he let his defense attorney do most of the talking. He said the allegation was correct. The defendant used drugs and had them with him.
“My client is sorry,” emphasized the lawyer and then referred to the consequences. The insurance company takes recourse against the Waltroper, the driver’s license has since been lost and he has to prepare for the MPU, the medical-psychological examination. There was also a lot of trouble with the girlfriend and the parents. He made a mistake, learned from the lesson and will go his way now.
Accused: “I regret it very much”
The accused himself credibly asserted: “I know I made the wrong decision. I regret that very much. ”And he is glad that nothing worse happened that day.
The judge finally summed it up dryly: “That wasn’t a brilliant achievement on your part.” On the other hand, she credited the Waltroper with the confession, his empty criminal record and his own consequences of the accident.
For the 24-year-old, his first and hopefully last criminal proceedings ended with a fine of 700 euros and a further four-month suspension period before the driver’s license was issued. He immediately accepted the court’s decision.
