The fateful crash happened around 2.45 a.m. near the Helmstadt junction in the Würzburg district in the direction of Frankfurt am Main, according to the police headquarters in Lower Franconia.
Accordingly, the investigations so far indicate that the Sprinter, which was occupied by seven occupants aged 42 to 55, got out of control without the involvement of a second car for reasons that have not yet been clarified.

When the first emergency services arrived at the scene of the accident, all seven Sprinter occupants had already left the car wreck independently. Three men were seriously injured and two others suffered minor injuries.
The 54-year-old driver and another man were not injured. According to the current findings, they were the only ones involved in the crash who were wearing seat belts, the police spokesman added.

The five injured men were all taken to nearby hospitals by paramedics.
For the investigation and the rescue work as a result of the crash, the A3 in the direction of Frankfurt was completely closed until around 7.45 a.m. on Saturday morning. Traffic has been diverted.
The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing. The responsible traffic police in Würzburg-Biebelried is urgently looking for witnesses who can be reached under the telephone number 093029100 to report to the officials.
