Last December, the Mutualité Française and the Association of Mayors of France (AMF) published their first social health barometer. It presents data and initiatives in three areas: access to healthcare, environmental health and social action. Zoom on the Lot-et-Garonne.
ACCESS TO CARE Fewer GPs and older GPs
In France, there is an average of 151 general practitioners per 100,000 inhabitants, Lot-et-Garonne is below with 129 general practitioners per 100,000 inhabitants. General practitioners from Lot-et-Garonnais who are, moreover, older than the national average since the rate of general practitioners over 60 years is 43% in our department, against 36% for the whole of France. Lot-et-Garonne is also a poor student in this study concerning the share of the population accessing emergencies in less than 30 minutes. The French average is 98%, while that of Lot-et-Garonne is 91% in this area. It is, by the way, the worst ratio of Nouvelle-Aquitaine in this matter. Ditto for the share of the population in under-endowed areas for access to care, which is 21% for Lot-et-Garonne against 11% in France. By way of comparison, it is 2% in the neighboring department of Gironde.
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH Earlier puberty than the national average for girls and boys
With regard to “environmental health”, the study by the Mutualité Française and the Association des maires de France shows that Lot-et-Garonne is at the same level, 15, as the national average for the rate. breast cancer death rate per 100,000 people, slightly lower, 9 versus 11, for prostate cancer death rate per 100,000 population, and slightly higher, 7 versus 5, monoxide deaths of carbon per 100,000 inhabitants. As for the premature mortality rate per 1000 people, it is 2.1 for our department against 1.9 for the whole of France, but this rate rises to 2.2 in Charente. The Lot-et-Garonnaises incidences are also higher than those in France for precocious puberty for 10,000 girls, 3.8 against 2.7, and for precocious puberty for 10,000 boys, 0.5 against 0.2. Lot-et-Garonne is however beaten by Gironde, 4.8, for girls, and by Landes, 0.6, for boys.
SENIOR AND DISABLED PEOPLE Where is Lot-et-Garonne in terms of its reception facilities?
Finally, Mutualité Française and Association of Mayors of France also draw up an assessment in terms of social action. It is unfavorable to Lot-et-Garonne in terms of the number of places in reception structures for 1,000 inhabitants aged 75 and over. Our department has 114 places against 124 on average in France. Other departments of Nouvelle-Aquitaine do less well: Vienne with 107 places and Pyrénées-Atlantiques with 104 places. On the other hand, the Lot-et-Garonne is in the high average in terms of the number of places in reception facilities for disabled people per 1000 people between 20 and 59 years old. The departmental average is 8.3 against 6.3 for the national average.
