Dresden – Dresden can breathe easy. The tourist killer was caught 16 days after his bloody act (TAG24 reported). On Tuesday evening the police arrested the Syrian Abdullah AHH (20) on Wilsdruffer Strasse, and on Wednesday an arrest warrant was issued against him.

The Soko “Schloßstraße” had been searching under high pressure for a week with 29 officials to investigate the knife murder of a tourist († 55) from Krefeld.
He and a friend (53) from Cologne were attacked with a knife by Abdullah on October 4th at around 9:30 p.m. on the corner of Rosmaringasse and Schloßstraße. While the Cologne man survived with serious injuries, the 55-year-old succumbed to his serious stab wounds shortly after the crime.
All search measures were initially unsuccessful. However, the perpetrator had left the murder weapon – a kitchen knife about 30 centimeters long – at the scene.
“In the course of the trace evaluation, the man was the focus of the investigation,” said police spokesman Marko Laske (46).
As part of the search measures immediately initiated, the officials succeeded in arresting him. The raid on Wednesday morning in the asylum seekers’ home in Pappritz is also related to the case. Abdullah is said to have last lived there.
The Syrian arrest warrant was issued on Wednesday. “The accused is charged with murder, attempted murder and dangerous bodily harm,” said Chief Public Prosecutor Jürgen Schmidt (44). According to Schmidt, Abdullah himself “gave no information on the matter” in his hearing.
The further processing of the preliminary proceedings is taken over by the Dresden Public Prosecutor’s Office, as an Islamist-motivated act is in the room.

This is known about the knife
Abdullah AHH (20) is no stranger to the judiciary. The jihadist had planned an attack on Dresden in 2017.
In 2015, the Syrian came to Saxony from near Aleppo. He had been dealing with the “IS” since 2016, he became increasingly radicalized since early summer 2017, and was arrested in August of the same year.
He had planned a suicide attack in Dresden, obtained instructions for an explosive belt from the Internet for the planned act of violence, had also recruited members for “IS” and declared war on non-believers.
At the end of November 2018, he was sentenced to a prison term of two years and nine months in front of the higher regional court on Hammerweg.
But that’s not all: Most recently, he was convicted of assaulting law enforcement officers and assault in two cases by the Leipzig District Court on December 9, 2019.
He had served his total youth sentence of three years and one month on September 29, 2020 and was released from the Regis-Breitingen juvenile prison. He was under leadership supervision.
Only five days after his release he stabbed in the heart of Dresden.
