The president of the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region is delighted with the possible renovation of the Rouyn-Noranda courthouse.

The building built in 1954 no longer meets the needs of the justice system, particularly in terms of security.

For example, judges must circulate through the public to get to their seats, and accused and victims regularly find themselves in the same space.

The chairman Me Pascal Jolicoeur believes that modernization was necessary. What we dream of is having a courthouse at current standards, a courthouse that can allow people, both lawyers and judges, to work safely and efficientlyhe says.

We also know that the courts have started to undertake the paperless shift, therefore to have the possibility of benefiting from this paperless shift at the Rouyn-Noranda courthouse, adds the chairman.
