The rector of the academy ensures that the facts of harassment were only brought to his attention after the suspension of the child.
A CM2 student was temporarily suspended from his primary school in Salernes (Var) last May by decision of the academy inspectorate, after several years of disputes between parents and the management of the establishment.
François’ parents assure that their child is the victim of harassment. The rectorate of the Nice academy reacted this Saturday. She argues that the National Education services have been seized “on multiple occasions since 2018 for facts relating to the behavior of the student in question”.
“Insults, attacks on both his comrades and the teaching team” are mentioned as well as the “behaviour of his parents”, with in particular “insults” and “threats against the team. teacher and other parents of students.
“These actions have sometimes required the intervention of the police to guarantee the safety of staff or other parents of students”.
It is because of “the seriousness of the situation” that it would therefore have been decided to suspend the student from May 11, 2023, adds the academy, which ensures that “the dialogue has been maintained” with the parents. during this period in order to find “a solution guaranteeing peaceful schooling for their child.”
The academy proposes that he be educated in 6th grade
According to the academy, this is when the parents would have indicated that their child was the victim of bullying. It would then have been proposed to enroll him in 6th grade until the end of the school year “in order to preserve the interests of this child enrolled in CM2”.
“This proposal, for a time accepted by the parents, was then refused by them”, continues Natacha Chicot, rector of the academy.
For her part, the mother of François would have collected several testimonies from parents of students and classmates of her son. “Since CP, they tell me swear words that I’m as big as a cow, that I shouldn’t be born, stuff that’s a little vulgar too,” the young boy told BFM Toulon Var.
The academy indicates that the National Education services “remain at the disposal of the family to examine the testimonies which would attest to the harassment suffered by their child” and thus find a solution so that he can return to school.
