Academic background, career, lineage are all fake… American politician shaking up party after being billed as leader

In the United States, the fall of a young politician who appeared like a comet and was elected to the House of Representatives is becoming a hot topic.

All sorts of dramatic backgrounds, such as being from a prestigious university and having grandparents as Holocaust survivors, all turned out to be false.

The residents of the constituency that elected him were in shock.

New York correspondent Lee Yong-ju covered the scene.

George Santos, a 34-year-old second-generation Brazilian immigrant, ran in the US midterm elections last year.

With a brilliant career, such as graduating from a prestigious university and working in a large financial company, he established himself as the guardian of the “American dream”, and was elected in the district of New York, which was a stronghold of the Democratic Party, and he emerged as the new generation leader of the Republican Party.

“It’s an honor to live in such a different country. As a member of Congress, I swear to support the ‘American Dream’ for all of you.”

But most of these success stories have turned out to be false.

Audit reports followed which confirmed that Santos was nowhere to be found in the list of graduates of prestigious universities and in the list of employees of large financial companies.

The pedigree was also a hoax.

Although he claimed to be Jewish and that his grandparents were victims of the Nazi Holocaust.

“We all remember the Holocaust. My grandfather fled the Ukraine to Belgium in the 1920s and then to Brazil in the 1940s.”

When both of his grandparents were identified as Brazilians, he changed sides, saying he never said he was Jewish.

Local residents are in shock.

“Santos is a pathological liar. He shouldn’t have the power to represent anyone else.”

“Everything Santos said sounded good during the election. Now I know it was a lie, but if I could go back in time I wouldn’t vote for him.”

Prosecutors are also looking into an investigation into career manipulation.

However, Santos showed up at the Capitol to be sworn in, but was not welcomed by his fellow lawmakers.

Many lies and fabrications have been exposed, but Santos still doesn’t know it. He refuses to resign, claiming it is a suspicion raised by the opposition to damage his reputation.

Does Santos really not know that such lies and uncommunicative actions endanger his party, the Republican Party and even democracy itself?
