“AC Milan Rules Out Ibrahimovic’s Involvement in Milan Derby and Champions League Semi-Finals Due to Injury”

In today’s statement, AC Milan ruled out that Ibrahimovic would be involved in the semi-finals of the Champions League, in which there will be a Milan derby with Inter. The duels are scheduled for May 10 and 16.

Ibrahimovic injured his thigh muscle in training at the end of March and was out of training for almost a month. He injured his calf a week ago while warming up before the match against Lecce. “Zlatan underwent a check-up which confirmed an injury to his right calf. We will see how it develops, there is still little hope that he will make it to the end of the season,” the club said.

If Ibrahimovic has to end the season early, it could also be the end of his career. According to the Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, AC does not plan to extend his contract, which expires at the end of June.

This season, he started in only four matches of the Italian league and played only 144 minutes in total. Even so, he managed to become the oldest goalscorer in the competition when he converted a penalty kick at Udine in mid-March. At the age of 41 years and 166 days, he surpassed the previous record holder, Alessandro Costacurta.
