Milan –
AC Milan announced its new recruit this summer. Rossoneri complete the move Samuel Chukwueze from Villarreal.
Quoted from Milan’s official website, Chukwueze was bought with a tag of 28 million euros (Rp. 463 billion), details of 20 million euros up front and the rest in the form of bonuses. The Nigerian forward has a five-year contract until 2028.
Instead, Milan loaned defender Matteo Gabbia to Villarreal until the end of the season with no permanent option. Chukwueze will wear the number 21.
Milan’s success in getting Chukwuweze deserves thumbs up because Villarreal previously asked for a tag of 35 million euros, but was successfully negotiated. Because Chukwueze’s contract at the club has one year remaining.
The presence of Chukwueze will add to the power of hitting Milan from the right flank, to offset Rafael Leao on the left. Chukwueze appeared solid with Villarreal last season with 13 goals and 11 assists in 50 matches in all competitions.
That includes eight goals scored in the last two months of the competition, leading to a fifth-place finish and qualification for the Europa League.
“AC Milan is pleased to announce the arrival of Samual Chiremenka Chukwueze from Villarreal CF. The Nigerian striker has just signed a contract with the Rossoneri until 30 June 2028,” said an official Milan statement.
Samuel Chukwueze has added a long line of new AC Milan players this summer. Previously there were Marco Sportiello, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Christian Pulisic, Luka Romero, Tijjani Reijnders and Noah Okafor.
In total, Milan’s management spent 89 million euros after releasing Sandro Tonali 64 million euros to Newcastle United.
