Two city rivals, AC Milan and Inter Milan occupy the top spot in Serie A this season until the third week. Juventus and Lecce trail behind, being the four unbeaten teams so far.
Inter are at the top of the standings with 9 points after winning three wins without conceding. Most recently, they beat Fiorentina 4-0. This is what makes them superior on goal difference from Milan, who also won three wins.
Juventus have won 7 points thanks to a 2-0 win at Empoli headquarters. They are in third place, ahead of goal difference from Lecce who have similar points after beating Salernitana 2-0.
Atalanta, who silenced Monza 3-0 last weekend, is in fifth place with 6 points, followed by defending champions Napoli who have the same points after losing 1-2 to Lazio. Verona, who lost 1-3 to Sassuolo, are in seventh place with similar points.
Meanwhile, Roma have not won in their first three matches. Most recently, they were defeated by Milan 1-2 at the Olimpico. These results put Il Lupi in the relegation zone with just one point.
Serie A will take a short break due to Euro 2024 Qualification this month. The fourth week will be held September 16-19, or about two weeks from now.
