The Abu Dhabi Sports Board of Directors held its regular meeting yesterday, to discuss business developments and discuss plans for developing the sports sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and to continue providing supportive initiatives and programs to enhance the successes of the sports system at the local and global levels.
This came during the Vice Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Mohammed Al Rumaithi, chairing the meeting held at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council headquarters, in the presence of members Dr. Jamal Al Kaabi, Saif Al Qubaisi, Mohammed Al Nuaimi, and Dr. Omniyat Al Hajri, in addition to Arif Hamad Al Awani, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and Ahmed Al Qubaisi. Executive Director of the Support Services Sector, Ahmed Al Hosani, Executive Director of the Strategic Planning Sector, Noura Al Menhali, Director of the Institutional Development and Quality Department, and Hamda Al Mansouri, Director of the Strategic Planning and Performance Department.
A press statement stated, “The Board of Directors reviewed the general financial budget for the coming year 2024, which reflects the strong performance of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and its impact on the sports sector, with the aim of achieving the benefit of the citizen, supporting the sports sector and athletes, and ensuring the provision of the best services to residents and visitors alike, and the extent of interest.” By developing the infrastructure to keep pace with the requirements of the next stage and to achieve the great development ambitions of the emirate.”
They also reviewed the strategic and operational performance report for the first half of 2023, the performance indicators report, in addition to the priorities for projects for next year 2024, and various statistics and studies related to sports activity in Abu Dhabi.
The Abu Dhabi Sports Board of Directors stressed the importance of continuing to organize community events on a regular basis, increasing the number of participants, and encouraging all segments of society to engage in sporting activities and improve the level of physical fitness, to prevent diseases, make sport a pattern of daily life, and create a sporting environment that contributes to raising awareness of the importance of sport. Noting that the number of participants in community events and sports during the first half of this year reached approximately 124 thousand participants and participants.
The meeting also recommended increasing the activation of the partnership with the Department of Municipalities and Transport with the goals of community service and improving the quality of people’s lives.
