Abu Dhabi Ports Group (listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Market under the symbol: ADPORTS), the leading global engine for trade, industry and logistics services, in cooperation with (“Kazmortransflot”), the maritime and logistics services company affiliated with the Kazakh National Oil Company “KazMunaygaz”, announced its acquisition On two modern ships designed to transport Kazakh oil and starting their operation in the Caspian Sea.

This came during the inauguration ceremony in the city of Aktau, Kazakhstan, and included the announcement of the acquisition of the two tankers and the start of operations, in the presence of Mr. Nurlan Nogayev, head of the Mangystau region; His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Saeed Al-Araiqi, UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan; Captain Mohammed Juma Al Shamsi, Managing Director and CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports Group; and Mr. Mirzagaliyev Magzum, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kaz Moneygaz.

The two oil tankers were named after two ancient cities in both the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Kazakhstan, “Liwa” and “Taras”, and they were acquired under a joint venture between Abu Dhabi Ports Group and “Kazmortransflot”, the maritime and logistics company in Kazakhstan, which It was announced in December last year.

The two tankers constitute a joint investment worth US$35 million. They are specially designed to operate in the shallow waters of the Caspian Sea, and are equipped with specifications that meet the demanding requirements of international oil companies, in addition to being equipped with inert gas systems to achieve public safety and comply with the latest international standards.

The two carriers’ use of inert gas reflects technological and technological development. It represents a proactive step that reflects the strong commitment to operational safety standards in this type of vessel, in line with international regulations regarding safety and security during oil transport operations.

The two tankers will operate along the strategic maritime route across the Caspian Sea, performing their role as shuttle tankers, completing successive trips to transport Kazakh oil to Azerbaijan. This service will contribute to diversifying the routes of transporting oil to all parts of the world via the Mediterranean or the Black Sea, which will consolidate the presence of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the global trade map.

This investment brings the total number of oil tankers operating under the agreement with “CasmorTransflot” to five tankers, after the acquisition of three “Aframax” tankers earlier this year.
